Construction Staff Accountant Responsibilities:
- Provide end-to-end project accounting management support from project creation to close-out.
- Ensure project set up aligns in accounting system with company accounting standards and project requirements.
- Partner with Controller, Project Managers and Senior Leaders regarding budgets and phase set up to assist with project monitoring and job costs.
- Review and report project WIP, revenue, budget variances and profitability, and ensure all billable expenses have been billed, Track project comments and WIP status.
- Review weekly reports to ensure revenue is being captured to the proper projects/phases and make revenue adjustments and/or allocations.
- Posting payment, maintain and reconcile all payments for end of month
- Manage A/R daily
- Make daily contact via phone and email with customers regarding A/R
- Assist with monthly close processes including maintaining the monthly close checklist
- Support management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned
- Work closely with the Controller to understand and ensure accuracy of all financial reporting activity including monthly, quarterly and annual statements·
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports
- Transactional Research and Analysis
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of Accounting Experience w/ emphasis on project/WIP accounting
- Construction accounting experience highly preferred
- Acute understanding of accounting principles
- Ability to work well with others and effectively on your own
- Minimum of an intermediate understanding working within Excel
- Experience with Sage a plus
- Detail and deadline-oriented
- Strong organization skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar
- Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
- Intellectual curiosity and passion for learning
- Strong written and verbal communications, including the ability to raise issues appropriately to the right level internally and externally to resolve
- Widely trusted and seen as a direct, truthful individual; keeps confidences; admits mistakes; doesn't misrepresent him/herself for personal gain

- A/R & Collections: 1 year (Required)

- 1 - 2 years construction accounting experience highly preferred.
